Sweet Drop Popcorn
Updated: Aug 28

There’s something about popcorn that feels playful. Maybe it’s because it’s the snack that brings everyone together on the couch, bowls in our laps, while a movie plays and conversations drift in between scenes. We love snacking on popcorn, and this is just one of our favorite variations. Check out our Daily Ration recipe for a savory twist for popcorn.
Tossing warm popcorn with Sweet Drop turns it into something a little unexpected. Sweet, buttery, a little salty… it’s the kind of snack kids love to help make (and sneak bites of before it even makes it to the bowl). Feel free to top this off with a drizzle of chocolate.
This recipe is proof that fun doesn’t have to be complicated. Popcorn, butter, Sweet Drop, and a little time together - that’s all it takes. It’s not just about the snack, but the stories, the giggles, and the sticky fingers that remind us every good story starts at the table.
Sweet Drop Popcorn
Warm, buttery popcorn tossed with Sunday Dinner’s Sweet Drop for an easy sweet-and-salty snack with cinnamon and a hint of cocoa. Ready in just minutes, it’s perfect for family movie nights, after-school snacking, or anytime you want something sweet and crunchy.
Prep: 5 min | Cook: 5 min | Total: 10 min | Serves: 4
Ingredients
¼ cup olive oil or coconut oil
3 popcorn kernels, for testing the oil
½ cup popcorn kernels
1/2 tablespoon salt
Sunday Dinner Sweet Drop, for sprinkling generously
Instructions
1. Heat the oil. Add the olive oil or coconut oil to a deep fry pan or large heavy-bottomed pan. Add 3 popcorn kernels and cover with a clear glass lid. Heat over medium heat.
2. Watch for the pop. Once the test kernels pop, you know the oil is ready. Carefully remove the lid.
3. Pour in the remaining ½ cup popcorn kernels and add the salt. Replace the lid.
4. Shake the pan. Keeping the pan over medium heat, gently shake it back and forth as the popcorn pops. The clear lid makes it easy to keep an eye on what's happening without lifting the lid and releasing the heat.
5. Listen for it to slow down. Continue shaking until the popping slows to a few seconds between pops. Remove the pan from the heat.
6. Add the Sweet Drop. Immediately transfer the warm popcorn to a large bowl and sprinkle generously with Sweet Drop. Toss, taste, and add more if needed. Around here, more is usually the answer.
A Few Notes
A clear glass lid is especially handy because you can see exactly when those first three kernels pop.
Olive oil gives the popcorn a savory base, while coconut oil adds a slightly different flavor. Both work beautifully.
Keep the pan moving once the kernels really start popping to help prevent scorching.
Add Sweet Drop while the popcorn is still warm so the seasoning sticks.
This same stovetop method works perfectly with Daily Ration when you want savory popcorn instead. Use less salt and let Daily Ration be your star.
Sweet + Spicy: Sweet Drop + a pinch of cayenne.
